The blue belt is an honorary belt awarded by Gord Hessie - soke for excellence and creativity in self-development. A blue belt may be assigned to an individual regardless of his kyu or dan ranking in Hoshinjutsu. It has nothing to do with physical skills and is not part of the normal ranking system. The blue belt is usually awarded for esoteric accomplishment outside of the parameters of what is normal within the system; however, it can be awarded for outstanding administrative skills and contributions to the Hoshinroshiryu who demonstrate the intelligence, humor, personal growth, or creative genius. The blue belt has contributed to the meditative, healing, or administrative system in a fashion similar to what the nidan has contributed to the physical system. There are currently only six people worldwide who hold this belt.
