Gord Hessie - soke, has been involved in self-protection systems for 25 years. He trained in Karate, Judo, Tae Kwon Do, Jujutsu, and Boxing. After exploring these systems he began searching for arts that encompassed the more pragmatic side of self-protection, which led Gord Hessie - soke to the arts of Hoshinjutsu, Ninjutsu/Budo Taijutsu, and Krav Maga.

After the untimely death of Hoshin Jutsu founder Dr. Glenn Morris in April 2006, Gord Hessie assumed the role of Soke (Grandmaster) at Dr. Glenn Morris' posthumous instructions via his wife and Hoshin senior leadership. This subsequently led to official recognition as 2nd Soke of the Hoshinroshiryu in front of, and by the ryu leadership and members, at the Kai Zen 2006 (World Hoshin Gathering) in San Antonio, TX in July of 2006.

Gord Hessie - soke was inducted into the Sokeship Council for the World Multi Martial Arts Hall of Fame (WMMAHOF) in September 2006, as the Dai-Soke (successor to lineage head) for Hoshinroshiryu Jutaijutsu.

He was also inducted into the World Multi Martial Arts Hall of Fame itself, when he was given the award of "Dai-Soke of the year". He was further honored with an 8th degree black belt by the WMMAHOF and officially recognized as the 2nd Grandmaster (and heir) of the Hoshinroshiryu Jutaijutsu organization in front of other Martial Arts Grandmasters from around the world.

Gord Hessie - soke, at the age of 38, is the youngest Grandmaster to have ever been inducted into the WMMAHOF. Soke has recently accepted a position of great honor with the Sokeship Council for the World Multi Martial Arts Hall of Fame. This position is as Vice President of the Mississippi region on the WMMAHOF Executive Council.

Soke also traveled to Japan in August 2006, where he successfully tested in front of the Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu Grandmaster for the rank of Godan (5th degree black belt) and title of Shidoshi in Budo Taijutsu (Ninjutsu).

Through exposure to many different points of view and styles, he has gained a broader sense of what Bushido (the "way of the warrior") means.

These teachers include Dr. Glenn Morris, Shihan Kevin Millis, Datu Kelly Worden.

Hoshin will continue to foster and develop the esoteric/meditation/chi gung aspect of our system. This is not negotiable as it is one of the things that makes us unique, and not just another Karate school. The other thing that separates us from others is our sense of family and support for our members. Emphasis on these must remian high on our collective radars.

Hoshin will NOT become a McDojo franchise. That having been said, we have many people in our system with experience setting up a dojo and attracting new students. That information will be made available to those who wish to open a dojo or attract students.

In addition to this, it is important to be aware that each one of us has a part to play in the way that Hoshin is perceived by people outside our system. We need to remain true to our sense of family and support for each other in order to create a desire for others to join us on our martial quest. All of us need to own a part of that.

In concert with this, it is important for us to continue the legacy which Dr. Glenn Morris has started for us. Always strive to reach the goal of personal excellence as practitioners and representatives of Hoshin.
