The white belt symbolizes the first rank of the student. It is a belt of transition indicating willingness to learn. While in the probationary period the student is not required to wear a dogi or badge of the hoshinroshiryu. The white belt indicates that the student has mastered dojo conduct and that the sensei has accepted the student into the hoshin system. The student will know how to fall, understand the safety signals, and will begin study of basic kicks, blows, throws, holds, and locks.
